Editing Start
Start from the welcome screen, and create tables, memos, table groups, and relationships from the canvas context menu, the canvas toolbar, or a shortcut.
Importing or Exporting Files
Import JSON, schema SQL, GraphQL, DBML, or AML in place of the diagram or added below it, and export JSON, schema SQL, or the diagram as a PNG or SVG image.
Table Editing
Add, select, reorder and delete columns, toggle column options, and copy or paste columns.
Logical Names
Give tables and columns logical names, show physical names, logical names, or both with the Name View, complete term names as you type, link columns to domains, and see where else names follow the view.
Table-related Functions
Select, move, copy, duplicate, and delete tables and memos, set colors and view options, define indexes and alternate keys, choose a database, get around the infinite canvas, and compare documents.
Table Groups
Gather related tables in a named, colored box behind them; create, name, color, move, resize, and remove groups, go to them from the Explorer, change which tables they hold, hide them, and carry them through Auto Layout, Schema SQL, and DBML.
Relationship Editing
Delete a relationship, change its type, set its ON DELETE and ON UPDATE actions, map it onto existing columns with Map Columns, read the connector notation and how connectors are routed round tables, work with N:M and identifying relationships, and see what new foreign key columns copy from their key and how they are named.
Quick Search
Open the command palette to switch tabs or the Name View, run a command for the current tab, open or close the Explorer, change the theme or display language, or jump to a table, column, comment, or memo by typing a prefix.
Explorer
Browse the diagram's tables with their columns, indexes, and foreign keys, its table groups, and its memos in a tree docked beside the ERD canvas, and go to any of them with a click.
Find and Replace
Search table, column, index, and table group names, logical names, comments, and memos from the top of the Explorer, step through the matches in its tree and on the canvas, and replace one match or all of them.
Visualization
Explore the schema as a force-directed Graph or as a Flow of table cards — zoom and pan, light up a table's related tables, focus on a few tables at a time, and step back through earlier focuses.
Schema SQL
Read the diagram's DDL on the Schema SQL tab, pick the database, quoting, statements, header, logical names in empty comments, and tables in its options panel, add your own scripts before and after the tables, and save or copy the SQL.
Code Generator
Generate code for twenty-two targets from the diagram, pick the language, database, name case and bracket in the options panel, see which targets write a relationship's ON DELETE and ON UPDATE actions, and save or copy the result.
Dictionary
Keep the diagram's domains, words, and terms on the Dictionary tab, derive physical names from logical names, let a domain set its columns' data type, read what the Checks sheet finds, edit and sort the sheets as in a spreadsheet, and import and export them as CSV files.
Undo, Redo
Undo and redo edits, what the history records, the Dictionary sheets' own histories, and stepping through the diagram's history with Time Travel.
Settings
Relationship data type sync and domains, maximum comment width, setting locks (view, tab, code settings, and Name View), column display order, the shortcut list, and the Settings tab of a read-only editor.
Language and Theme
The editor's 25 display languages, right-to-left layout, the theme builder's System, Light, and Dark appearances and its colors, and where each host keeps them.
Embedding
Show a diagram read-only on another site without code by framing erd-editor.io/embed, build its URL and iframe line in the builder, set the theme, language, Name View, minimap, controls, and colors in the URL, and serve the file from GitHub or a server that allows CORS.
